Attend & Achieve

Attend & Achieve at South Bank Primary School

Attendance is closely monitored by the school, and we place great importance on actively working with parents and carers to promote this essential aspect of school life. During term time, and as long as they are fit and healthy enough to do so, we expect all children to attend school every day.

Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We believe that the most important factor in promoting attendance is the development of positive attitudes towards school and learning. To support this, we actively promote attendance and punctuality for all our pupils through a variety of weekly, termly, and annual awards and incentives.

If your child’s level of absence becomes a serious concern, you will be contacted by the school to discuss how we can work together to improve their attendance. This will include putting in place a supportive family plan tailored to your child’s needs. Our aim is to work collaboratively with you to give your child the best opportunity to flourish.

Parents and carers have a legal duty to ensure that their child attends school regularly and arrives on time. Full attendance is essential to the all-round development of a child, allowing them to take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them by law. Frequent absence can add up to a considerable amount of lost learning, which can seriously disadvantage your child.

Thank you for your support in helping us maintain high standards of attendance and ensuring the best outcomes for all our pupils.

How does your child’s attendance compare?

Attendance during one school year equals this number of days absent which is approximately this many weeks absent which means this number of lessons missed
90% 19 days 4 weeks 100 lessons
80% 38 days 8 weeks 200 lessons
70% 57 days 11.5 weeks 290 lessons

Once again, I would like to sincerely thank all the parents and carers who ensure their child attends school regularly and benefits fully from the educational opportunities available at South Bank Primary School.

Your commitment to punctuality and consistent attendance plays a vital role in your child’s success, wellbeing, and overall development. Together, we are providing the best possible foundation for their learning journey and future achievements.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
