Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) is a nationally recognised award that helps schools to work in partnership with all parents and carers. Increasing parental participation in school life leads to improved pupil progress, punctuality, attendance and behaviour. We actively encourage parents to be involved in their children’s learning leading to improved outcomes in all aspects of school life.
The long-term benefits of the LPPA include (but are not limited to):
- Increased parent participation and involvement
- Enhanced parents' support in children's learning
- Improved communication between home and school
Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA);
- Supports the effective transition of children and families through and between schools.
- Increase participation in school life by including all groups of parents in their children’s learning and developing their own learning.
- Improves communication by ensuring school is welcoming, communicative and friendly places for parents.
- Provides clear guidance on the responsibilities of parents, schools and pupils and enhances the induction process.
- Helps support the production of parent-friendly policies to establish home-school links.
We continue to work hard to involve parents as fully as possible within school life in the following ways;
- Clear transition process into school which includes a home visit and a school visit prior to starting school. EYFS children are also offered a stay and play session. These visits are led by our SEMHW team, Nick and Sarah. For families who have English as an additional language, we use translation services where required and for families where the children has additional needs, the SENDCo, Mrs Burgess, also attends the home visit.
- Parental workshops on phonics and early reading.
- Parental engagement sessions – Forest schools, craft sessions, Book and Breakfast – these have a real impact on supporting those parents who attended to support their child’s learning or just engage in fun activities as a family.
- Annual family picnic in the summer term and invitation to our family Christmas dinner, Christmas performances and Y6 leavers events.
- SEMHW team, Nick and Sarah, provide support for families through attendance at social care meetings, support filling out paperwork (secondary school appeals etc.), open door policy for parents struggling with either their own mental health or their child and providing expert advice and support on a number of topics.
- The children have lots of opportunities to be involved in charitable events throughout the year: World Book Day, Child in Need, Red Nose Day, Wear Odd Socks Day (anti-bullying), Wear Blue (diabetes).
We aim to share information with families in a variety of ways including but not limited to;
- School website
- Facebook
- MCAS app
- Weekly newsletters
- Class dojo
- Certificates and notes home
- Class emails
- Parent-teacher association
As a school, we will welcome and actively encourage parental engagement and feedback. We will continue to work together to support families to have a happy and positive experience at South Bank Primary School.
